A Hug for Punch: Based on the True Story of a Little Monkey and His Beloved Stuffie

All my kids have had a comfort object they literally cannot live without. When I ordered A Hug for Punch, I thought it was a cute picture book about zoo animals. What I didn't expect was to be reading about PUnch finding courage through his stuffed orangutan. The story explained why our littles love and  cling to their plushies, including during big life transitions, showing how a little extra comfort can really help a lot.

We love those fun Work It Out Wombats! My kids love Malik, Zadie, and Zeke and this fun story. The story is about the three friends and their big feelings and teamwork they try to do at home. Beyond the lessons, this book is great for read-aloud time with your littles. This book is a really good way to help your little ones work through friendship issues, learn how to share, or if you just want a bedtime read that actually holds their attention.

The Last Leaf by Ali Pye is about Parker, who is an adorable, worrywart puppy who panics when he sees leaves falling and he thinks the trees will run out of them forever. As Parker seeks answers from other animals, the story addresses big childhood worries. I like how it uses a seasonal focus to address a  lesson on navigating change. The golden-hued illustrations really capture cozy fall, it's fun to read cuddled on the couch!

In our house, we've definitely had some moments  of sibling comparison in regards to art!  Sister Scribbles by Lenny Wen is about Lila, a passionate little artist who struggles with feeling completely overshadowed by her super-talented older sister, Rosa. When a local drawing contest stirs up all those big feelings of insecurity, jealousy, and self-doubt, I really like how Lila finds a way to have her own voice and in the process. Plus, she also discovers that her biggest rival might actually be her best supporter.
