Papa's Coming Home

I curled up with my little ones and opened Papa’s Coming Home, eager to read this sweet book. The joy and excitement that bubble through every page reminded me of our own imperfect, beautiful welcomes when someone returns home. The illustrations by Dan Taylor are cozy and colorful, and I loved how the car ends up so full of stuff it becomes a little chaotic, it made us giggle together.

What I appreciated most was the gentle, loving focus on family and homecoming without feeling heavy-handed. The story shows a family with two dads, a family full of love and anticipation. My kids saw themselves in the excitement and mess of getting ready. It’s heart-warming, inclusive, and perfect for sharing those “welcome home” feelings with your little ones.
